Bad mood

It can be more scary to face what's inside than the outside but it is well worth the effort.

When you are in a bad mood do you try to understand why or do you just engage the negative energy as a way to ride it out? If you are able to identify why you’re feeling so miserable, by figuring out the trigger, you can free the negativity or at least minimize or navigate away from it in the future.

Does someone or something rub you the wrong way? Why, does this person, place or thing cause such turmoil? What lies beneath the surface of you and why is it erupting uncontrollably? How and why do these horrible feelings flood and take over your psyche?

According to PsychologyToday.com, “The unconscious is where most of the work of the mind gets done; it's the repository of automatic skills (riding a bike), the source of intuition and dreams, the engine of much information processing. Fleeting perceptions register on the unconscious mind long before we may be aware of them. The unconscious mind is not some black hole of unacceptable impulses waiting to trip you up, but it can be the source of hidden beliefs, fears, and attitudes that interfere with everyday life. Most forms of psychotherapy aim to bring into conscious awareness many of these hidden hindrances, so that we can examine them and choose how to deal with them.”

Some times, when an individual goes to therapy, during this discovery process, he or she may actually feel worse instead of better. As the therapist works with the client to tap into this realm of unknowns, even though the counselor creates a safe and trusting environment, it takes courage for this person to face this ambiguity.

Our feelings are symptoms of our thoughts, whether conscious or unconscious, they impact us. If you feel unhealthy mentally and you are unable to dive into this realm of uncertainty, seek help so you can uncover the blockage and gain health again.

Gather your courage, dig in and push forward. Whether you can shed some light on this darkness on your own or you need help, grab the baton and push forward because you, my friend, deserve a life filled with joy instead of hardship!
