In every HOA in the country, there is someone who takes the initiative and works with vendors, residents, and others to help keep the community running. In many communities, this work is handled by a professional management company that works hand in hand with the association's board of directors to efficiently manage the property.
In a recent press release, Associa, North America’s largest community management services firm, and Association Services of Florida (ASF), announced the appointment of industry veteran Joanne Willoughby as President and CEO.
“We are happy to announce the promotion of Joanne as President and CEO of ASF,” said Associa Senior Vice President Chris Harrison. “She is a seasoned executive with more than 30 years of experience in community management. Her focus is on the client, ensuring each receives unsurpassed service that goes beyond what can be found anywhere else.”
As President and CEO of ASF, Willoughby will lead the company’s operations, responsible for company growth, developer and client services, marketing, maintenance services and the oversight of corporate programs and training.
Willoughby started with Association Services of Florida in February 2002, as a Portfolio Manager, later transferring to an On-Site position, then Director of the On-Site Communities. She was promoted to the position of Vice President in February 2012.
She began in this industry in 1984 in the Northeast rental market. Having achieved Manager of the Year for two consecutive years, Willoughby was promoted to regional manager and serviced properties from Connecticut to Florida. In 1995, while working for a developer, Willoughby managed her first condominium association in Greenwich, Conn. She has also managed commercial, mixed use, medical and retail properties.
Willoughby has been involved in three condo conversions from acquisition, filing application with the state, input on the declaration, articles of incorporation and bylaws, rules and regulations thru the turnover from sponsor to unit owners. Having sat on nine different boards in her career she is diversified and understands Management from both sides.
She has obtained the AMS, CMCA and PCAM designations through NBC-CAM, a division of the Community Associations Institute (CAI) and is President of the Southeast chapter of CAI. Willoughby has a degree in Criminal Justice and is pursuing her CPM Certified Property Manager certification.
Association Services of Florida provides community association management and developer services to South Florida. Since 1979, its sole focus has been to deliver performance that enriches communities and enhances the lives of the people it serves.
