Argo was awarded top honors at the 85th Academy Awards tonight, taking home the awards for Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Film Editing. The balance of awards this year was notable; Life of Pi received four awards, Les Miserables received three, and two awards each were given to Lincoln, Django Unchained, and Skyfall.
Ang Lee won his second Best Director award for Life of Pi, following his 2005 win for Brokeback Mountain, and Quentin Tarantino took home his second Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for Django Unchained.
Daniel Day-Lewis and Jennifer Lawrence took home the Best Actor and Actress awards, while Christoph Waltz and Anne Hathaway received the awards for Best Supporting Actor and Actress. Adele won her first Oscar for Best Original Song for "Skyfall" with Paul Epworth.
The evening also marked the third tie in Oscar history: Skyfall and Zero Dark Thirty shared the award for Best Sound Editing. The previous ties were for Best Actress in 1968 and Best Actor in 1932.
