HB 1264 will be put to a floor vote on Wednesday in the New Hampshire House. The bill was originally a reciprocity bill put forth by Jr Hoell but the anti-gun crowd decided to completely change it into a ‘gun violence commission’ bill. Democrats in the House decided they wanted to study gun violence and gun laws in New Hampshire to see if they could come up with a gun control bill as the end result. The bill calls for a variety of people to be involved with the ‘commission’. The problem with the list of people is most of them would be from the anti-2nd Amendment crowd and only about 2 or 3 would be the opposite. The list from the bill is below:

(a) Three members of the house of representatives, appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives.
(b) One member of the senate, appointed by the president of the senate.
(c) One member from the National Alliance for Mental Illness-New Hampshire, appointed by that organization.
(d) A chief of police appointed by the New Hampshire Association of Chiefs of Police, appointed by that organization.
(e) One member from an organization which promotes gun violence prevention and firearms safety, appointed by the governor.
(f) One member from Gun Owners of New Hampshire, appointed by that organization.
(g) One member who is the owner of a retail firearms sales business, appointed by the governor.
(h) One member of the New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, appointed by that organization.

Not only was this an underhanded way of bringing forth yet another gun control bill after the last one failed (HB 1589) but once again it isn’t necessary. It’s quite simple to understand that gun crime is not an issue in New Hampshire. The Granite State has one of the lowest gun crime rates in the country yet some of the least strict laws. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that clearly the two are related. It would be one thing if there was a huge gun crime problem but there is not. Once again Democrats in the anti-2nd Amendment crowd seek to push for more gun control against law-abiding citizens.
