The Annie Leibovitz photographic exhibit Pilgrimage will be on display at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum’s Illinois Gallery, as I mentioned last week, from Saturday, February 8, 2014 to Sunday, August 31, 2014. The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum (ALPM) is located at 212 North Sixth Street, Springfield, IL 62701. ADM (Archer Daniel’s Midland Company), Macy’s, and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation (ALPLF) are sponsoring this traveling exhibit.

Annie Leibovitz became a famous photographer with her portraits of celebrities, carefully staged and lit, from rock star John Lennon to movie star Johnny Depp for clients ranging from the magazine Rolling Stone to The Walt Disney Company. However, she has begun to more recently to take still life pictures of famous places and things, ranging from the homes of famous writers to Niagara Falls.

The Pilgrimage exhibit consists of over seventy of these photographs of the latter type from the Smithsonian Institution’s American Art Museum. The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum (ALPLM) Store will be selling copies of the companion book Pilgrimage.

Copies of Pilgrimage sell for $45 each for ALPLF members. Once can order a copy by calling the ALPLM Store at (217) 558-8974 or online at, but please note that Pilgrimage is not available on the Web site yet.

There will be a Member’s Only Preview of the exhibit on Friday, February 7, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served at the event.

Ms. Leibovitz will be there. She will not sign autographs.

However, the ALPLM Store will be selling a limited number of autographed copies of Pilgrimage. Call the ALPLM Store at (217) 558-8974 for details.

The R.S.V.P. deadline for ALPLF members is Monday, February 3, 2014. Call (217) 557-5589 or e-mail rsvp [at]
