This week on "America's Next Top Model," the guys and girls will have a difficult turntable runway to master, and they'll have to bring it in a photo shoot that takes place in a trailer park.
Everyone arrives back at the model home after last week's judging, and they're greeted by Mike's first call out shot being displayed on the flat screen in the living room. Mike gets a real confidence boost at having best picture last week, and he instantly decides to ask Jeremy to stay in the Tyra Suite with him.
Jourdan interviews that she doesn't have a plan b. Modeling is all she has ever wanted, and she's currently living with her boyfriend's parents, and that's definitely not the best thing. She really hopes her time to start winning comes soon.
Nina seems to have an ankle injury, and is carried in the room by Chris H. He helps her ice her ankle, which we find out she injured during casting week. Seems rather odd that she didn't show any symptoms of an injured ankle during makeovers last week, or the previous week, when walking down the building in the Guess runway show.
Nina and Chris H. are really becoming close friends, and they're joined by several other models in one of the rooms when Mike appears at the doorway to announce that everyone will get some phone time later that day, and it will only be 5 minutes per person. Chris starts to say something, and Mike tells him to "shut the **** up." This really angers Chris, who starts going off on him, demanding an apology, which Mike refuses to give.
Chris interviews that when he was a child, his mom was very verbally abusive with him, and that's what set him off. He explains the situation to several of the guys, and Cory suggests that he have a house meeting to explain why he acts this way to the others.
Everyone gathers, and Chris explains why he is the way he is. He apologizes to everyone, and Nina and Jourdan are both sympathetic to him, Nina, because she's always been different than everyone else, and Jourdan, because she lived with an abusive husband. Mike, on the other hand has no compassion, saying that Chris is an adult, and he needs to deal with his anger.
The next day, the models get ready and take their bus to the Arena Café, where they meet Johnny Wujek, who welcomes them to their next runway show. Mike starts getting worried, knowing that his walk is really horrible. He tells them that the room isn't much right now, but later on there would be a runway added, and the house will be packed. He then introduces the editor-in-chief of "Nylon Magazine," Marvin Scott Jarrett. He tells them that Nylon is always looking for new models that can sell clothes and show off their awesome personalities. He will be judging tonight's challenge, and the winner will get a chance to show off their talents on Nylon TV.
Then, Johnny drops the bomb. He tells them that the different thing about the runway is that it will be spinning. With that, the circular stage Johnny and Marvin Scott Jarrett were standing on starts to spin. Now, not only is Mike worried about the runway, Nina also is worried since her ankle is killing her. Oh oh.
It's time for hair and makeup, and Johnny will be personally picking looks for each model based on his or her personality. He makes the announcement that Mike, of course, is the worst walker, but that they're going to help him. Johnny gives him a few tips, and has him practice some walking. Later, Nina is talking to Cory about how worried she is that she's not going to do well on this challenge with her foot hurting the way it is. Johnny comes over, and she explains her concerns. Johnny says that they will have someone wrap her ankle with a bandage, and she feels comforted by the support that will give her. Also, she is wearing a long skirt, so her ankle won't be really showed as she walks, so that will help.
As people continue to get ready, Johnny introduces the two designers for tonight's runway. For the guys, Ashton Michael from "Ashton Michael," who has designed the clothes. He's designed for stars like Will-I-Am, and Usher. The designer for the ladies is Kimberley Gordon from "Wildfox," who has designed for stars like Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hutchens.
During the show, Jourdan, Renee, Chris and Phil bring it, but others like Jiana and Nina, have a bit of a difficulty walking on and off the spinning turntables, and Jeremy looks like he's thinking "Zoolander." No one falls, so that is good.
In the end, the judges announce their favorites. Phil, Jourdan, Renee and Chris are the top 4, and Jourdan is the winner. Not only does she get the Nylon TV gig, but she gets to keep the clothes. Johnny tells everyone that they'll see their scores when they get back home.
Challenge scores are as follows:
Jourdan has a perfect 10, while Phil, Chris and Renee have a 9. Don and Marvin each have an 8, while Cory, Jiana, Kanani, and Nina score a 7. In the bottom, with a score of 6 is Mike, Jeremy and Alex.
The next day will be the photo shoot. The models get ready and pack into the bus, and are taken to the Castiac Lake RV Park, where they meet Johnny Wujek. He says they'll be posing in teams, and be exuding trailer park chic. The models will get to choose who they are posing with based on how well they did in panel last week.
Mike had best picture last week, so he chooses first, and he takes Alex again. Jiana picks Marvin. Jourdan picks Chris. Nina picks Phil. Cory chooses Renee. Jeremy, Kanani and Don are the remaining models, and they'll pose together.
Johnny introduces everyone to today's photographer, The Cobra Snake. (Fans that watched ANTM last season will remember him as the photographer from last Cycle that shot the jail photos.)
Kanani, Jeremy and Don are first. Kanani is holding a large American flag, and they start taking some shots. Johnny stops the shoot, saying he feels something is missing. He introduces a girl with a big wig and a prom dress and sash who will be posing with them. Her name is Sugar Pop Pop. (Think take off on Honey Boo Boo.) I personally think she added nothing to the photos.
When they shoot again, Kanani is killing it, but Jeremy is having a hard time keeping his eyes open with the bright light. Don looks rather "eh."
Mike and Alex are next, and Alex is killing it, but Mike is just sitting on a lawn chair. Johnny is wondering how far Mike will get in the competition, because he's just inconsistent.
Jourdan and Chris really do well on their shoot. I think both of them will be on the top, although Johnny thinks Chris isn't connecting with Jourdan.
Marvin and Jiana are next, and they are posed coming out of a trailer. Marvin decides to pick Jiana up, like he's carrying her over the threshold out of the trailer. He's having a hard time concentrating being so close to Jiana. Johnny is loving Jiana, but thinks Marvin's face has the same one look in every shot.
Cory and Renee are next, and Cory really is dressed like Eminem. He's really rocking the personality.
Nina and Phil are posing together, and Phil is lifting weights with one arm, while Nina is trying to not show the pain in her leg.
Back at the Model house Mike is worried that maybe he didn't get a good picture. Jeremy is worried that he looked too squinty.
At judging, Tyra introduces the judges, lists the prizes, then prepares for the critiques.
First is Phil and Nina. Tyra sees that Nina still has her ankle bandaged, and Nina tells her about twisting her ankle during casting week. The judges love Nina, and BryanBoy tells her she's really giving Jiana a run for her money with the fans. The judges like Phil, but Tyra thinks he could have pushed a bit more. Phil's fans are not loving him so much this week.
Jiana and Marvin are next, and Marvin admits to having a crush on her, saying he's jealous when he sees her with Phil. Tyra likes Marvin's sharp cheekbones, and everyone loves his body. Rob mentions that Marvin's face looks the same as it has in previous photos, and he needs to mix it up. BryanBoy says his social media scores are consistant and to keep it up. Rob thinks she's really working her body. Tyra loves it too, but wishes she was showing more neck. BryanBoy says she is the darling of social media.
Next is Cory and Renee. The judges think Cory is really pulling off a straight man look. Kelly thinks that Renee is not showing on film the elegance of how she looks in person. Rob thinks her face isn't sexy, and Tyra thinks her eyes look dead. BryanBoy loves her personally, but says the fans aren't so enthusiastic.
Alexandra and Mike are next. Kelly says that he takes a good picture, but he needs to change his walk, which she's still haunted by. Rob isn't happy with his shot, saying his first shot was so so, his second was amazing, and this one is mediocre. He isn't sure if maybe Mike just got lucky last week. The fan comments about him mention that your eyes should go to his face, but they actually go to his crotch. Oh oh, not good. Kelly thinks that Alexandra's body doesn't look modelesque to her. Tyra says it's due to the positioning of the fanny sack, which is positioned in front of her, messing up her line, as she's got her booty pushed out, and looking good, but the fanny pack makes it look like she has a paunch. BryanBoy says her social media scores are consistent.
Next is Jourdan and Chris. Rob thinks Jourdan is amazing. Kelly thinks she's a tiny bit stiff. Tyra thinks she's really rocking the light, but she doesn't see the story. BryanBoy says social media loves her. Kelly and Rob both love Chris, with Rob saying he looks like a real working top model. Tyra thinks it's great, but he needs to try harder to find his light, as the light is mainly on Jourdan. She wished he would have leaned forward a bit.
Kanani, Jeremy and Don are the final ones to be critiqued. Rob loves Kanani's pose from the face up. Her body looks really small, though. Tyra loves her look. BryanBoy says social media loves her. Rob thinks Don needs to buff up some more to go with his bad boy image, with all the tattoos. Tyra thinks that he looks great, and doesn't think he needs to buff up in this shot. BryanBoy says Don's social media scores have gone way up from last week. Rob thinks that Jeremy needs to really study his poses, as the light isn't doing his abs any justice. BryanBoy says that social media is rising. Note: I think Tyra's got a little crush on Don, as she said that she could look at him all day.
The callouts went as follows:
The bottom two are Jeremy and Mike. The judges think both guys have great Americana looks, but Jeremy is the youngest, and Mike is the oldest. Jeremy has the best male body, but he doesn't know how to work it. The judges are nervous about Mike's photo shoots. One week he's great, and the next he's not. Who is staying? That would be Jeremy. Mike will leave the competition and join Chlea, who was eliminated last week in the Comeback competition, to work the future photo shoots and try to get the highest social media score and return to the competition.
Next week, it looks like having received first photo the previous week goes to Jourdan's head, as she feels this entitles her to having more phone time than the other models. Also, the models will do a gender bending photo shoot, with guys dressing as girls and girls dressing as guys. Interesting! Tune in next Friday, Aug. 30, at 9:00 p.m., on The CW to find out what happens.
