Amber Riley is paired with Derek Hough on "Dancing with the Stars" for season 17. And, if Amber and Derek has anything to do about it, these two will be taking home the mirror ball trophy when the show is done. That said, their first time out on the "DWTS" ballroom floor on Sept. 16 showed that this could well be a possibility.
The charismatic "Glee" star and the winning veteran dancer, who already owns a slew of those coveted mirror ball trophies, showed their stuff on ABC while doing the cha cha to a Little Mix song called "Wings." She was dressed in an asymmetrical costume trimmed in fringe that went flying throughout this fast-paced Latin number.
So how did Amber Riley and Derek Hough fare on the "Dancing with the Stars" season 17 premiere?
In a word: Fantastic!
All the judges were on board, with Bruno Tonioli leading off the criticism by citing Amber as the "tigress of season 17." Carrie Ann Inaba was beside herself, bowing to the artist who is Amber Riley and telling her that she is "hot" after seeing this talent cover the dance floor for the first time on this ABC TV show.
As for "DWTS" arbiter Len Goodman's assessment?
The British judge thought Amber Riley and Derek Hough were absolutely incredible. And they were, as indicated by the three 9s given by the judges on the first night of "Dancing with the Stars" season 17.
