Last time, we looked at crafts and activities for the letter E. Today we will begin the letter F. Be sure to check the photo album at the bottom of the page for pictures of more letter F activities.
Letter F activity options:
- Letter F words include fire, flamingo, frog, flag, forest, fireman, fan, flowers, ferret, fiesta, father, feather and festival. Talk about these words.
- Try some of the free, printable letter F activities from DLTK. There are letter templates, printable books, toilet paper roll crafts and other projects.
- Eat letter F foods such as fruit, fries, French toast, fudge, Fritos, frozen yogurt, flan, fish and flatbread.
- Find letter F songs and rhymes at Everything Preschool and DLTK.
- Make a letter F puzzle out of foam.
- Go fishing for the letter F. Attach a magnet to a string and tie it to the end of a stick to make a fishing pole. Write letters on fish cutouts and place an adhesive magnet strip on each cutout. Make sure that you have more than one letter F card. Scatter cards in the floor and fish.
- Take a field trip to a farm, fire station or forest.
- Decorate a Frisbee with paint or letter F stickers and head outdoors to play.
- Read The Very Lonely Firefly and do some of the related activities on Eric Carle's website.
- Make a letter F flag.
- Make Five Pretty Flowers finger puppets.
- Decorate a letter F cutout with feathers or foam packing peanuts.
- Incorporate geography by teaching kids about letter F locations such as France, Finland and Fiji. You can also study their flags.
- Teach about fractions with fruit like the mom at Delightful Learning.
- Check your library for Sam and the Firefly, Fish or other letter F books.

You always have the most creative ideas for helping children learn beginning literacy skills. F is for foil sounds like a fun way to tactilly learn the sound of the letter f and relate it to the letter that represents that sound.
