The 49th annual Academy Of Country Music Awards is set to rock and roll, country style, on Sunday. And we've got our own wish list of what we want to see. One of the nominees for Female Vocalist of the Year is Carrie Underwood, and she's also a presenter.
But Carrie also deserves a separate award for Country Music Courage in daring to don a milkmaid's dress and yodel about hills being alive on "The Sound of Music Live" in December. And as Carrie sang during that very, very long evening of song, little kids running around and bare-kneed delivery guys on bikes, "Nothing comes from nothing, Nothing ever could."
So therefore, we'd like to see the following to salute Carrie's turn as Maria:
- British actor Stephen Moyer dressed as vampire Bill Compton and singing "Edelweiss" (hey, it's got kind of a country ring to it, doesn't it?).
- Rather than have a delivery guy appear mid-show, have a goat pulling a cart piled with DiGiorno Pizzas. Then have the countess from "Sound of Music Live" hand them out, singing a new version of "My Favorite Things" that includes pizza instead of schnitzel with noodles. Because seriously, if you had a choice, would you really choose schnitzel with noodles over pizza?
- Carrie herself arm-in-arm with Christian Borle, who played Max on "Sound of Music Live." Because, sorry, vampire Bill, but Max was much cuter and cleverer than the Captain.
And for those who missed it: "The Sound of Music Live" just came out on DVD. You haven't lived until you've seen the incredible Audra McDonald sing: Get the details by clicking here.
