Wella Professionals stylists were in full force for the Academy Awards. Enzo Angileri styled Charlize Theron, Robert Vetica styled Renee Zellweger, Andy LeCompte styled Lily Collins for the Chanel Party and Leslie Mann for the Vanity Fair Party, Anh Co Tran styled Ginnifer Goodwin for the Chanel and Vanity Fair Party.
Charlize Theron at the 85th Academy Awards:
Inspiration: Enzo explains, “My inspiration came mainly from her short hair, which she cut three months ago for a movie” and is now just grown out to length that can be styled into a sophisticated, yet androgynous look that complements the sleek lines of the Dior haute couture gown. “ I wanted Charlize’s hair to look like she got out of jeans and a t-shirt and put on a gown because the style is so simple and chic.”
Here’s how Enzo got the look:
1. After washing and conditioning, Enzo applied Wella Professionals Natural Volume Styling Mousse to wet hair to direct hair into place.
2. Then blow-dry hair with a diffuser until it’s 100% dry and in place.
3. Rake hair down with a brush following the part and shape of the head, leaving volume at the top of the head.
4. Enzo used Wella Professionals Shape Shift Molding Gum to mold the hair and create a texturized look and feel.
5. Finally, he finished with a light mist of Wella Professionals Shimmer Delight Shine Spray to give hair luminosity on the red carpet.
Renee Zellweger at the 85th Academy Awards
Hair Look: The chignon is very classic, sophisticated chic, and red carpet elegant.
Step-By-Step Styling:
1. First, wet hair was prepped with small amount of Wella Professionals Velvet Amplifier Style Primer
2. Then, section by section blow dry with a large round bristle brush and back comb each section lightly.
3. Once the hair is completely dry, split into two pieces and tuck into a low chignon securing with bobby pins.
4. Spray the pinned hair lightly with Wella Professionals Shimmer Delight to create shine.
5. Finally, set the look with Wella Professionals Stay Firm Finishing Spray.
Isla Fisher at the 85th Academy Awards
Inspiration: Marcus explained “I wanted Isla's personality to really show by keeping her hair sleek and down, it made the look feel young, sexy, and fun, just like her. Having a no part half-up, half-down would help to modernize the hairstyle.” A strapless dress doesn't always mean the hair must be worn up. In this case Isla showed off her red, shiny locks which really popped against her blue dress by wearing it down.
Step-By-Step Styling:
1. From wet hair, apply Wella Professional Flowing Form Smoothing Balm section by section and blow dry with a medium size round brush.
2. Create your part for the section you're pulling back by starting at the arch of each eyebrow, and continue back to the crown.
3. Spray Wella Professionals Thermal Image Heat Protection Spray before you flat iron each section from roots to ends.
4. Secure the section pulled back by using a bobby pin on each side at the crown. Slide the pin underneath the top layer of the hair to anchor without slipping.
5. Use a quarter size amount of Wella Professionals Mirror Polish Shine Serum and take through with your fingers to seal the ends and adding shine.
6. Finally use Wella Professionals Stay Essential Finishing Spray with focus at the front and section pulled back for added hold.
Leslie Mann at the 2013 Vanity Fair Party
Inspiration: “I wanted to go for a simple, understated glamourous style for Leslie’s look tonight. It’s very 1970s Jerry Hall glam,” Andy explains.
Step-By-Step Styling:
1. Start out by spraying Wella Professionals Create Character Texturizing Spray on wet hair to give it texture and body with hold.
2. Use a ceramic brush for a smooth blowout, then put the hair in velcro rollers to set for 10-15 minutes.
3. After removing the rollers, back comb and tease the hair to create more volume.
4. Create lasting hold by finishing the look with Wella Professionals Stay Essential Finishing Spray.
Ginnifer Goodwin at the 2013 Vanity Fair Party
Inspiration: “The look was inspired by 1920’s finger waves,” Anh explains.
1. First, apply Wella Professionals Thermal Image Heat Protection Spray and Wella Professionals Velvet Amplifier on wet hair.
2. Blow the hair 80% dry with low heat and speed to not disturb her waves.
3. Add Wella Professionals Bold Move Matte Styling Paste gently on the dry hair, using the comb to spread the product evenly.
4. Mold the hair into a finger wave pattern. This way, the finger waves won't look so flat on her hair and will have some volume.
5. Once, the finger waves are done, apply Wella Professionals Stay Essential Finishing Spray to hold it in place.
6. Finally spritz the Wella Professionals Shimmer Delight Shine Spray to keep hair looking wet and shiny.
