The 2014 NFL playoffs live stream and televised games continue on Sunday, Jan. 5 with a huge matchup in the final NFC Wild Card game of the weekend. The New Orleans Saints have already advanced after a dramatic win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Now the San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers will meet up at freezing Lambeau Field for the right to move on to play the Carolina Panthers next weekend. The latest televised and live streaming NFL playoffs game arrives courtesy of FOX sports networks.

According to ESPN.com, today’s game will pit the returning Aaron Rodgers and his Green Bay Packers squad against last year’s NFC Champion, the San Francisco 49ers, led by quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick failed to capture his first-ever Super Bowl win last year, as the 49ers fell to the Baltimore Ravens, so this could be a year of redemption. However, Kapernick will need to get by Rodgers and the Packers, as well as the tough defense of the Panthers, before playing either the Saints or Seahawks to get to the Super Bowl.

Rodgers was able to get the much-needed victory over rival team, the Chicago Bears, in the final game of the season at Soldier Field. He was 11-of-17 on passes for the game, with 173 yards and two touchdowns — the biggest of which was a 48-yard TD pass to Randall Cobb to put the Packers ahead for good. Rodgers told the media of his mental and physical status heading forward:

"My arm felt good. Mentally, I felt good. I prepared hard all week, but there's always going to be some sort of re-indoctrination period, if you will. It was kind of like the preseason for me."

The Packers are currently top ten in both rushing and passing, giving them plenty of weapons on offense. The problem for Green Bay could be their defense, as they rank 29th in terms of scoring by opponents, allowing 30 points on average per game. They’re also 30th in total yard defense per game and 31st in rushing yards allowed. That could provide a big day for Frank Gore of the 49ers, to help Kaepernick some. Gore has racked up 276 carries for 1,128 yards and 9 touchdowns this season.

On the other side of the field, Eddie Lacy has compiled 1,178 yards and 11 touchdowns on 284 carries for the Packers. Lacy ranked ninth in the NFL for total yards this season, while Gore was just a spot lower on the list. However, the 49ers boast one of the league’s top defenses, as mentioned, ranking fourth in the league in opponents’ rushing yards as they limit teams to 95.9 yards per game on the ground. Passing defense is almost as good, as the Niners rank 7th with 221.0 yards allowed per game. Will Rodgers be able to overcome the defense?

Temperatures will be chilly at Lambeau Field today, in fact so cold, that free coffee and hand warmers were given out to fans attending the game. Weather reports indicate a kickoff temperature of about 6 degrees, with a wind chill of -11. It’s expected to be partly sunny with a north wind blowing about 10 to 15 miles per hour.

For bettors, the San Francisco 49ers opened as 3-point favorites for this matchup and have remained at that number at various sports books. The over/under first opened at 49 1/2 before sinking to about 45 points at some sports books. There are no key injuries for either team as of this report.

Sunday's 49ers vs. Packers NFC Wild Card game has a scheduled start time of 4:40 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. This game will be televised for sports fans on FOX affiliate stations around the country. It will also be live streaming online for various cable or satellite service providers around the nation, via the FOX Sports Go online site. This site may not be available in all regions or with all cable or satellite companies in the United States, so it's best to consult the website for full details.
