49ers' Michael Crabtree being looked at for sexual assault in San Francisco (Video)

The San Francisco Police Department released a statement yesterday saying that they’re investigating San Francisco 49ers’ wide receiver Michael Crabtree in connection with a sexual assault that allegedly occurred in a San Francisco hotel room early Sunday, not too long after the 49ers beat the Green Bay Packers in their NFL playoff victory on Saturday.

Crabtree caught two touchdown passes in that game.

The wide receiver hasn’t been arrested or detained, and has promised to make himself available as the investigation into the sexual assault allegations against him go forward according to Mercury News.

Trent Baalke, general manager of the 49ers released his own statement saying:

"We are aware of the allegation against Michael and understand that he has fully cooperated with authorities. The 49ers take such matters very seriously. We will have no further comment at this time as the legal process is ongoing."

The San Francisco 49ers go up against the Atlanta Falcons Sunday for the NFC Championship game being played at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. Crabtree is fully expected to be present for the game.

The San Francisco Police Department is seeking the public’s help in gathering information about the allegations against Crabtree.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the SFPD Special Victims Unit at 415-553-9225, the Anonymous Tip Line at 415-575-4444, or Text a Tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD.
