Texas native Steve Torrence sits atop the Top Fuel ladder after qualifying for the NHRA O’Reilly Auto Parts SpringNationals at Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas. Del Worsham (Funny Car), Allen Johnson (Pro Stock) and Jim Laurita (Pro Mod) also earned their respective No. 1s following Saturday’s qualifying sessions.

Torrence made a fast pass of 3.786 seconds (321.81 mph) to earn the No. 1 spot, and will face Terry McMillen in the first round of eliminations on Sunday. Antron Brown, Shawn Langdon, Tony Schumacher and J.R. Todd round out the top five in Top Fuel.

Worsham earned the No. 1 in Funny Car with a pass of 4.051 seconds (314.68 mph) and faces Courtney Force in round one of eliminations. Don Schumacher Racing teammates Jack Beckman and Tommy Johnson Jr. sit No. 2 and No. 3, with Robert Hight and Alexis DeJoria rounding out the top five.

Allen Johnson made a fast pass of 6.555 seconds (211.63 mph) to earn the Pro Stock No. 1, just ahead of Erica Enders-Stevens and Dave Connolly. Shane Gray and Vincent Nobile round out the top five. Johnson faces Greg Stanfield in the first round on Sunday.

Laurita earned the No. 1 spot on the Pro Mod ladder with a pass of 5.847 seconds (247.38 mph) and faces Don Walsh in the first round. Rickie Smith, Kevin Fiscus, Ron Muenks and Mike Janis round out the top five.
