2014 Camping World RV Sales 301 qualifying: Busch on pole

Joe Gibbs Racing driver Kyle Busch won the pole for Sunday’s Camping World RV Sales 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, besting Jimmie Johnson in the final round of knock-out qualifying. His JGR teammates Denny Hamlin and Matt Kenseth will also start in the top 15 at the 1.058-mile track.

Busch won the pole in the No. 18 Interstate Batteries Toyota Camry with a speed of 138.130 mph (27.574 seconds), setting a new track record in the process. Hamlin, in the No. 11 FedEx Freight Toyota, will start behind Busch in third after his fastest lap of 137.081 mph (27.785 seconds), while Kenseth will start 15th in the No. 20 Dollar General Toyota after a lap of 136.257 mph (27.953 seconds) in the first round of knock-out qualifying.

Former JGR driver Tony Stewart starts fourth, while Jamie McMurray and former JGR driver Joey Logano make up the third row.

The Camping World RV Sales 301 goes green Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.


Busch was the runner-up in Saturday’s Nationwide Series Sta-Green 200 at NHMS, following Brad Keselowski across the finish line. The driver of the No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota Camry started on the outside of Row One next to Keselowski, who won the pole with a speed of 130.304 mph (29.230 seconds) to Busch’s 129.936 mph (29.313 seconds) in the final round of knock-out qualifying.

JGR finished the race with three drivers in the top six, as Kenseth finished third in the No. 20 Interstate Batteries Toyota and Elliott Sadler finished sixth in the No. 11 OneMain Financial Toyota.
