Being stuck in the hall with a folding chair apparently
trumps even the tiniest cubicles in the world
After one week of voting, 2009's Worst Cubicle in the World contest finally has a winner. Congratulations to Connie Finch who was awarded the grand prize with the submission of the Stuck in the Hall "cubicle" photo.
Although the winning photo was not the typical definition of a cubicle, enough voters believed the workspace was miserable enough to overcome the fact that it was not confined to the temporary walls that often define the modern workspace.
The runner-up, who chose to remain anonymous, nearly came away with the grand prize with his Hallway Cubicle=Hubicle photo. He ran a nice campaign but came up short in the end. Because of the close race, a decision was made to also award the runner-up with a $30 gift card to a chosen retailer. Connie Finch, the grand prize winner will be awarded a $50 gift card. (View the official final results of the contest)
For your viewing pleasure, the worst 10 cubicles, including the grand prize and runner up, are provided in the slideshow at the bottom of the article.
Thank you to all other readers who submitted a cubicle photo and to the 700+ voters and 20,000+ visitors. For those that did not have a chance to view the 37 finalist photos, they are provided below.
Don't forget to come back often for weekly articles from Dudley B. Dawson in the Life in the Cubicle column, as well as September's upcoming contest to determine The Worst Profile Photo on LinkedIn (check back next week for details).

Foul! Cubicle = cube. This is Parralleogammiacle.
I am feeling claustrophic just looking at this picture.
Great post! Finding a job you like and don't find unbearable is really difficult. Not to mention trying to balance it with everything else in life. Thanks for the post.
I recently came across this blog that I thought added some insight and levity into the issue and was enjoyable: http://burisonthecouch.wordpress.com/2010/06/25/family-member-dating/
I’d love to see more like it. Thanks!
