20-year-old toddler: 'Syndrome X' traps adult in child's body (Video)

A 20-year-old toddler is defying scientific explanation. Little Brooke Greenberg suffers from a rare condition. In fact, the condition is so rare that it doesn't even have a name. Doctors just call it "Syndrome X." Thanks to the nameless syndrome, this young woman remains trapped in the body of a child. Physically, Brooke has the body of a toddler. Mentally, she has the cognitive ability of a nine-month-old to one-year-old child.

According to a Jan. 11, 2013 report by The Daily Mail, the 20-year-old toddler "is unable to talk, still has her baby teeth and like any infant, travels in a push chair." Brooke has a younger sister who does not appear to be affected by "Syndrome X."

Brooke is a bit of a medical miracle. Despite a slew of medical emergencies in her younger years, she has survived everything from a stroke to a brain seizure without lasting effects. Brooke once fell into a coma for two weeks during which doctors diagnosed her with a brain tumor. The tumor disappeared by the time she emerged from her coma.

Brooke has been on television several times. Her most recent televised appearance was on the show "Katie," where she appeared with her parents and her sister Carly. Her mother admitted to the studio audience that she sometimes lies about Brooke's age when strangers ask her. Although she loves her 20-year-old toddler, she might say Brooke is only 20 months old to avoid explaining her daughter's condition.
