It was reported on May 7, 2013, that a 105-year-old bacon woman has discovered the secret to long life. According to The Huffington Post Pearl Cantrell of Richland, Texas credits her advanced age to the benefits of eating bacon daily.

"I love bacon, I eat it everyday."

Pearl's 105th birthday was celebrated over three days and had over 200 guests. She is not showing any signs of slowing down. Research shows that eating a certain amount of red meat can be advantageous but too much could be harmful.

"A University of Zurich study published by the journal BMC Medicine in March found that eating little or no red meat can be a risk factor for early death. However, the same study found that eating too much bacon increases the risk of bowel cancer."

The famous Oscar Meyer Weinermobile made a special stop in her town last week to deliver her a case of bacon. Along with birthday wishes she was also given a ride around town.
