Movie news site NewsInFilm.com is reporting Hollywood mom Angelina Jolie will be directing a new movie with a humanitarian theme (August 26, 2010).
Celebrity gossip reports from the site say. "Actress-Oscar winner-humanitarian-child collector Angelina Jolie is adding more hyphens to her title. British production company Gk Films is financing her feature film directorial debut and first screenplay, an untitled love story set against the Bosnian war. Jolie will not star in the film."
Angelina Jolie and romantic partner Brad Pitt traveled together to tour Bosnia in early 2010 on a volunteer trip for the United Nations.
The Hollywood celebrity couple were there without their children. They told numerous press organization at the time that they were moved by what they saw. It is likely their trip helped influence the celebrity couple to get behind the project.
Regarding the plot summary, News in Film goes on to say:
Producer Graham King’s blog reports the film is about a young Serb and a Muslim woman who fall in love just before the start of the Bosnian war and how the Eastern European conflict affects their passionate relationship. The cast will consist of unknown actors of various ethnic groups from the former Yugoslavia, Jolie said after speaking with Bosnian government officials about the refugee crisis.
Online gossip website fangirltastic.com shared their opinion and inside scoop about the potential proiject, says:
It's time to add a fairly surprising name to the long list of female directors - Angelina Jolie has been confirmed to be beginning work on her directorial debut with a romance set during the Bosnian war.
The film is said to revolve around a budding romance between a Serbian man and a Bosnian woman who meet at the beginning of the long and bloody conflict. The Bosnian War, which took place after the collapse of Yugoslavia in 1991, caused the death of well over a 100,000 people as ethnic tensions between Serbians, Bosnians, and Croatians boiled over into bloody horror.
Jolie is pursuing this project from a directorial vantage only; she has written the script and will direct, but will not act in the film. She has said, with some insistence, that she does not intend to express any political message in the movie.
