An Alabama family's court hearing to adopt their son Kirill took an unexpected and heart-wrenching turn last week, when the judge denied their petition to adopt.
After five hours of questioning and testimony, Greg and Tesney Davis were shocked to hear the judge tell them their request was rejected.
Tesney shared that Kirill "has been denied a family because he has Down Syndrome and is "socially unadaptable due to his medical needs"."
But take a look at the video to the left of this article.
Does that look like a child who is unadaptable? A child who should be forced to spend the remainder of his life in an institution?
No child with Down Syndrome has ever been adopted from this particular region of this European country. And if the judge's decision is not overturned, that sad trend will continue.
The Davis family is currently appealing this decision in the Supreme Court in Kirill's home country.
They're asking for prayers. They're asking for people to share Kirill's story via email, blogs, Facebook, Twitter, and any other outlets they have available. They're also asking for any media leads to be contacted, hopeful that the story will get further coverage and further support.
