The upcoming coming-of-age Paramount Pictures feature film "Labor Day" is currently accepting submissions from boys and girls between the ages of 10 - 17 years of age, including a mentally handicapped boy between 12 - 17 years of age. These are for two lead roles and one supporting role to star opposite Academy Award winner Kate Winslet and Academy Award nominated Josh Brolin. Shooting will take place in the Boston, MA area starting in June, 2012.
"Labor Day" is based on the novel by author Joyce Maynard and tells the story of depressed, single mom Adele (Kate Winslet) and her son Henry, who offer a wounded, fearsome man (Josh Brolin) a ride. As police search town for the escaped convict, the mother and son gradually learn his true story, and end up aquiring the knowledge that real love is worth waiting for.
Four-time Academy Award nominated filmmaker Jason Reitman will direct "Labor Day" from an adapted screenplay that he wrote himself. The film marks the fourth collaboration for Jason Reitman and Paramount. His latest film "Young Adult," starring Charlize Theron, hit theaters on December 9, 2011. The studio previously released his Academy-Award nominated "Up in the Air" in 2010. Earning over $160 million world-wide, the movie earned six Academy-Award nominations, and five Golden Globe nominations, with Reitman taking home the Golden Globe for Best Adapted Screenplay.
