Saturday August 14 Atlanta's shoe game was again in the spotlight at Twelve Lobby and Bistro in Atlantic Station. This time what the ladies were wearing were secondary to what they donated. The cause was the 40 girls and some shoes annual shoe drive and 359 pairs of shoes that evening. Most ladies wore black dresses but expressed their different shoe personalities; showing their fashion with a purpose.
Founder Sylvia Webb started 40 Girls and Some Shoes to literally aid women, children and men who are taking that all important first step into a new life by providing them with new and gently worn shoes. In addition to the shoe drives that Sylvia holds, she partners with different complimentary organizations like My Sister's House and Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter.
Melissa Clayton from Atlanta Union Mission's My Sister's House reminded the supportive crowd
"That people that rely on shelters may be down and out but they deserve respect and the best that we can give"
