The Orioles will play some extra innings with the Yankees Friday. These extra frames, however, will come before the teams’ regularly scheduled game later that night, as Baltimore and New York have to play the remainder of a game suspended June 28.

The game will resume at 7:05 in the top of the eighth inning with the Yankees leading 8-6. Nick Markakis will be leading off for the Orioles, but Chris Ray, who was pitching for the Orioles, will not be available to step back onto the mound because he was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday.

“I don't have to make that announcement until we go up there tomorrow,” said interim manager Dave Trembley when asked who would pitch when the game is continued. “It depends on who we don't use today. I have already talked to Leo [Mazzone] about it a little and he has a good idea about it.”

The Orioles and Yankees’ regularly scheduled game will being 20 minutes after the conclusion of the suspended game.

TEJADA’S RETURN: Tejada was already on the disabled list for the suspended game, but could be activated in time for to play in the continuation Friday. Tejada went on the disabled list June 22 with a broken wrist. He made a rehabilitation start in Bowie Wednesday and in Frederick on Thursday.

“I have some guys I can put out at short,” said Trembley, referring to rookie Luis Hernandez.

Chris Gomez will likely play first, but Trembley will have to find a replacement for Melvin Mora, who was ejected prior to the game's suspension.

“I can do some things with the line up and plug some guys in there and maybe we can get some guys in there to swing the bat,” Trembley said.

ERNIE ENDS STREAK: Cal Ripken Jr.’s consecutive games played streak is the cornerstone of his Hall of Fame career, but to celebrate his enshrinement in Cooperstown another remarkable Orioles’ streak will end.

After Friday's game, Ernie Tyler, the Orioles' 83-year-old umpire's attendant will break his streak of 3,769 consecutive Orioles’ home games to go to Cooperstown as one of Ripken's guests for the induction ceremony.

“I never felt anything about having the streak and Cal never thought about it, either,” Tyler said. “I am so interested and overwhelmed in going up with Cal Ripken, It is being finished for a good reason.”
