Undercover drug op nets suspected dealers

Columbia (Map, News) - Howard County police arrested half a dozen people, most suspected drug dealers, after a three-month sting in Columbia.
Starting in January, undercover narcotics detectives and patrol officers infiltrated the Harper’s Choice and Wilde Lake communities posing as drug users, said police spokeswoman Sherry Llewellyn.
However, “no new information came to light about the flow of drugs,” she said Thursday, referring to how the drugs come into the county or who supplies them to the street-level dealers.
Police arrested a total of 25 people 18 on charges of marijuana possession, two on cocaine possession charges, one on charges of both marijuana and cocaine possession, and the remainder with various charges including theft.
“The goal here was to send a message to the dealers and the users and community members that this is unacceptable. This was more about identifying areas of concern and staying on top of those areas,” she said.
Police executed five search warrants, and of the 25 suspects arrested, four were juveniles, Llewellyn said. The majority were from Columbia.
Police have not released figures on the quantity of drugs seized, Llewellyn said.
Detectives launched the investigation after receiving complaints and information from residents concerned about an increase in illegal drug activity in Harper’s Choice and Wilde Lake.
Some community members said the sting was reminiscent of Operation Clean Sweep, an 18-month investigation into the sale and distribution of cocaine, crack cocaine and firearms in Columbia that ended in 2004.
That investigation led to the arrest or indictment of 36 suspects, including several who were charged with supplying dealers with large quantities of cocaine.
The police have “done a good job of coming through here and working with the community, but drug use still exists, to an extent,” said Bill Santos, a Wilde Lake resident who is running to represent his village board on the Columbia Association Board of Directors.

I actually play paintball said:
Even the "realistic" paintball guns dont look like actual guns seeing as the hopper(thing that loads the paintballs into the gun) is about the size of a shoe and sits on top of the gun, and the air tank that is about the size of a football make it pretty dame obvious that the gun isnt real

A more truthful explanation of this man's death is from witnesses who saw from their own houses. After the man was beaten at the house he was at the cops jumped on him, he was seen on the ground being kicked by officers before his death. The police refused to let the ambulance drive to the scence, which was waiting there before his death. The medics were forced to run about a whole block with their equipment and the stretcher. Too sad, the cops beat the man to death and get away with it. As for the ladder part of this story, I was there myself to see.

What are the cops doing in this city? We need to be more proactive where drugs and violence are concerned. They know where drugs are being sold.There are so many police cameras in this city. The drug peddlers have just moved to a street where ther is no camera, but they are still out there. For instance in Park Heights on Hayward ave between PArk heights and Reisterstown Rd everyday you see drug dealers lining the street corner every block 2 by 2 selling. It is outrageous. And worse than that there is police precinct less that 3miles away. Sometimes I think the some cops are being paid by some of these drug dealers to turn a blind eye. Something better needs to be done and it can be done, it's not rocket science. We have brilliant heads in our government let's get them working together and get things done. We can be more and do more in Baltimore. very concerned resident of B'more.
