Is TomKat planning to have a baby boy?

SAN FRANCISCO (Map, News) - Is a Suri sibling on the way? A friend of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes was seen at upscale L.A. baby store La Petit Tresor scoping out design schemes for a boy’s nursery, according to TMZ.com.

The gossip site reports that the friend was heard to say, “We want to be prepared for a baby boy.”

An expected new arrival could explain recent reports of Tom’s overprotective behavior … sort of. As Katie prepares to film the comedy “Mad Money,” her first post-Suri movie, a source whispered to the New York Post that “Tom has called producers and told them he will be on set every day. He wants to observe what’s going on and will probably help Katie out.”

Katie bowed out of the “Batman Begins” sequel to co-star in the Queen Latifah flick, and the source notes that “Katie’s agent … chose this role for her because it is a female buddy movie. There is no love interest and she wouldn’t be kissing anyone or have a sex scene.” (As opposed to, say, smooching hottie Christian Bale in “Batman.”)

A producer for the flick couldn’t confirm Tom’s plans for on-set omnipresence, and TomKat reps were unavailable for comment.

Britney S.O.S.

Hip-hop producer Timbaland is desperate to help Britney Spears get her life back on track, and he says his “best friend” — her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake — is on board.

“I asked Justin, ‘How would you feel about me working with Britney?’” Tim tells Entertainment Weekly. “I had to ask him that. I said, ‘Would you do it with me?’” The beatmaker says J.T. responded in the affirmative, adding, “She’s just gotta be serious.”

Work on the troubled “Toxic” singer’s new album, reportedly half-finished, was derailed when she entered the Promises rehab facility for a 30-day treatment program following a very public meltdown.

“I feel her pain, it really bothers me,” Timbaland confides.

“I just want to hold her hand. I want her to be in my camp, to be around Justin. I need Justin to talk to her. Help her, please!”

There’s nothing we’d rather see. Make it happen, Tim!

Anne’s Man Speaks

Anne Heche’s split from husband Coley Laffoon was widely presumed to be caused by an affair with her “Men in Trees” co-star James Tupper. But James insists to People that while Anne was married, “the line was never crossed.”

Now that she’s single, it’s a different story: “I adore her, and I’m hopeful for the future.”

James recently separated from his wife — also before his relationship with Anne began, he claims — so the couple is taking things slow: “I’m not ready to rush into marriage.”

Still, his feelings for Anne are clear: “I’ve never met anyone like her. There’s something really comforting when you can truly connect with someone and be understood. Isn’t that what we all want?”

Duff Gets Tough

Apparently Hilary Duff isn’t all sweetness and light. The pop princess certainly seems to be directing some scathing words to her ex, Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden, and his new girlfriend, socialite Nicole Richie, on her forthcoming album.

On “Dignity,” the CD’s title track, Hilary rails: “Where’s your dignity? I think you lost it in the Hollywood Hills / Can’t buy respect but you can pick up that bill.”

According to online reports, the lyrics continue, “Always with Mr. Right, but then you have a fight / Run into your friend’s ex, he’s happy to be your next / Tomorrow’s paper’s coming out so kiss him fast, watch the cameras flash.”

Another song vents, “All wrapped up in me whenever there’s a crowd / But when no one’s around there’s no kindness in your eyes … When I think of all the time we wasted, I could cry.”
