The forecast yield is 150 bushels an acre from an estimated 4.6 million acres.
If that amount of corn is harvested, the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service says it will be a record for production, harvested acreage and yield.
Soybean production in South Dakota is forecast at 172.2 million bushels, up 3 percent from last month and up 25 percent from last year.
If realized, the soybean crop would represent record production for the state and the second-highest yield in state history. The yield is forecast at 41 bushels an acre.
