There’s a major change for drivers who get on Interstate 66 west from the E Street Expressway in the District. The D.C. Department of Transportation has shut down the ramp leading from the expressway to I-66 west for repair. The ramp is not expected to reopen until around Aug. 25.

Drivers approaching the ramp will be directed to take the Potomac River Freeway north, then left onto 27th Street Northwest, then an immediate left onto Potomac River Freeway south, and then onto I-66 west.

West Basin Drive

The National Park Service has a utility project planned for West Basin Drive in the District on Tuesday. West Basin Drive between the FDR Memorial and westbound Independence Avenue Southwest will be closed for the day. The work includes the relocation of utility facilities. Drivers will have to detour and follow eastbound Independence Avenue over Kutz Bridge, and then, just after crossing the bridge, turn left onto westbound Independence Avenue. The rain date for the work is Wednesday.

I-95 widening

The Virginia Department of Transportation continues its I-95 widening project this week.

Look for single-lane closures on I-95 south from Exit 166 (Route 7100/Fairfax County Parkway) to Exit 163 (Route 236/Lorton Road). That work will happen between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. today through Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to noon Friday.

On I-95 north, keep an eye out for single-lane closures between Exit 160 (Route 123/Gordon Boulevard) and Exit 166 (Route 7100/Fairfax County Parkway). That happens  from today through Thursday 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 9:30 a.m. to noon Friday.
