Country singer Shelby Lynne is in Annapolis today.
“The Thriftstore Mystery Paintings” by “Blaster” Al Ackerman — a series in acrylic that decorate the verso of Ackerman’s first spoken-word album, “I am Drunk,” for Stewart Mostofsky’s EHSE label — are now on display for ArtScape. The backstory is that Mostofsky, a longtime Ackerman fan, commissioned the artist to decorate album covers with original acrylic paintings. Oh, and Ackerman has been working in mail art, poetry, prose and performance since the early 1970s, so you know these works are going to give off a bit of the psychedelic spirit. Spend a lazy day gazing at the nautical, fins-and-gils-heavy pieces in Carroll Art Museum's “Go Fish” exhibit, basking memories of summer vacations and warm weather. Sightings of “Gone Fishing” signs delight the imagination. Visitors will be greeted by a gallery chock full of artful fish in ultimate realism, abstraction and whimsy.
