Comedian’s passion for Newsom is no joke

SAN FRANCISCO (Map, News) - With his dashing good looks and flashy politics, Mayor Gavin Newsom was bound to attract a few diligent stalkers during his career.

Meet 24-year-old Mary Van Note. The San Francisco comedian insists Newsom is already in love with her.

“He just doesn’t know it yet,” she said.

Van Note says the hunky 40-year-old mayor will break off his engagement with actress Jennifer Siebel, 33, once he watches her new 10-episode show on IFC.com called “The Mary Van Note Show: Gavin Really Wants Me.”

“I felt this was my chance to tell [Newsom] I love him, and that he should leave his fiancée,” Van Note said.

The new online comedy follows Van Note’s crude, scandalous and somehow still-innocent approach to winning Newsom’s heart. In each episode, Van Note experiments with a “how-to” manual of dating she said will make her irresistible to San Francisco’s mayor.

The manual teaches her how to recruit a “wingman,” dress to impress and properly stalk a mayor, according to show representatives.

“I have experience being obsessed with people and stalking them,” Van Note said. “I think that he just needs to open his eyes and see me, and know that I’m here for him.”

Though Van Note is a professional comedian, she insisted her love for Newsom is no joke.

“Ever since I was a kid, I just loved him,” she said.

Van Note said there are two reasons she can’t have Newsom right now: He is indeed engaged, and he “likes blondes,” she said. But she said that won’t deter her from letting the mayor know how she feels.

“I could be a really good first lady of the state,” Van Note said, commenting on the mayor’s interest in the California governorship.

“[Sacramento] sucks, but I would move there for him.”

"Three of the seven directors on the high-profile Municipal Transportation Agency board were informed by the Newsom administration over the weekend that their services are no longer needed. One of those told she was being shown the door was Leah Shahum, executive director of the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition" About time, Shahum's EGO is too big to fit into any room seating more than one person. She has no capacity to even want to discuss views that vary a nanometer from her own. I am somewhat surprised she can ride a bike with that sort of lack of balance.

Ryan's name first came up as a replacement for Chief Fong when Newsom was asking for his appointees to resign. Ryan said at the time that there was no truth to the rumor that he was being considered, but let's hope whomever the next chief is it is a true crime fighter and not a merely politically correct selection.

Mirkarimi's theory has merit. Ryan could be a good Chief once he studies the terrain in the City's criminal justice landscape. We haven't had a good Chief since Tom Cahill. The lowest point was that Chief that painted the patrol cars powder blue.

I hope Ms. Siebel wants a family because as far as I can tell she's getting a husband and a child in one in this nuptial agreement.
