The performer best known as Broadway’s original “Annie” in 1977, now 44, brings her cabaret act to the Rrazz Room today through Saturday. She’ll also appear in “You’ve Got Possibilities,” a fundraiser gala and tribute to “Annie” composer Charles Strouse on Monday at the Alcazar Theatre in San Francisco.

What are you doing in your cabaret show? It’s a brand-new act with a whole bunch of new stuff. It also has some of Seth Rudetsky’s — he’s a DJ on Sirius radio — practically useless knowledge of Broadway trivia.

How do you feel about cabaret being an art form for older people? When I was younger, I never liked doing it. I always wanted to be in book shows. But now it appeals to me, I do songs that have always spoken to me.

How do you like touring versus Broadway? I’ve only toured two or three times, in “Cabaret,” “Jerry’s Girls” and “State Fair.” I love it. You get room service, use 20 towels. I’m slightly ADD, so it’s nice not to have the distractions of home when I’m on the road.

Have you been to San Francisco before? Yes, most recently playing Sally Bowles in “Cabaret.”

Have any notable memories about San Francisco? It’s a great city — great food, great music. When I stayed for 10 weeks at the Clift Hotel, I bumped into Chrissie Hynde in the elevator. That was great.

Are you sick of “Annie” and the song “Tomorrow”? I’ve sung it too many times. But it is so right for so many things. All my memories of “Annie” are so fabulous, and I like to do the song for charity events.

You look a little like Lindsay Lohan; has anyone told you that? Yes, my daughter. She says I should play her mother.
