A former supervisor for the U.S. Agency for International Development was sentenced Friday to four years and three months in prison for sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy while working in Ukraine, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

Paul Douglas Guild, 65, of Silver Spring, was working last year as a regional supervisory executive officer for USAID in Kiev, Ukraine, and living at a property leased by the United States when he began tutoring two teenage boys, ages 14 and 15.

In early August, Guild picked up the 15-year-old boy from his home early one morning and took him back to Guild's residence. He told the teenager to take a shower and would not allow him to get dressed afterward, according to court documents. Guild then taught the boy how to shave while they both were undressed, had physical contact with the boy, and told the boy he loved him, the documents say.

Guild returned to the United States on Aug. 6, 2007, and was arrested at Reagan National Airport in on Aug. 27.

He was found guilty in January on one count of sexual abuse of a minor and two counts of assault, one of which was in connection with the 14-year-old student. A jury acquitted Guild on five other counts of sexual abuse.

In the sentencing, U.S. District Judge James C. Cacheris said Guild willfully obstructed justice by committing perjury both at his trial and at the sentencing hearing, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office.
