GLEN BURNIE, Md. (Map, News) - State police say one person is dead and five people are in the hospital after a fiery three-vehicle crash on Md. Route 10 in Anne Arundel County.
Troopers say shortly after noon on Friday, a Ford Contour was traveling south on Maryland Route 10 at Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard. The vehicle stopped suddenly in front of a Cadillac Escalade, and the Cadillac struck the rear of the Contour.
A Ford truck traveling behind the Cadillac struck it in the rear, rupturing the Cadillac's fuel tank. A fire broke out and engulfed the Cadillac. Anne Arundel Fire and Rescue put the blaze out.
The driver of the Cadillac was pronounced dead at the scene. Three occupants of the Ford Contour, including an infant, and two occupants of the Ford truck were taken to area hospitals.
Witnesses told troopers with information that the drivers of the Contour and the Escalade may have been involved in an altercation before the crash. The incident is under investigation.
