Hey, Baltimore, this drink is for you

BALTIMORE (Map, News) - We’re seeing a pattern in drink submissions from Baltimore residents. An online Examiner reader suggested the “Dead Gang Banger,” a mixture of Bacardi 151, Everclear, a shot of Olde English 800 Malt Liquor and orange juice. We’re not looking forward to tasting that.

Reader John Hodge e-mailed us his “Bloodymore,” a twist on the traditional Bloody Mary that includes Old Bay and clamato juice. And Max from Federal Hill recommends a drink called the “Dirty Dirty,” a can of Natty Boh (of course) paired with a shot of Burnett’s vodka — served warm.

Although Emily was pretty upset that Clayton’s in Federal Hill is no longer, Jessica convinced her to check out Muggsy’s, where Clayton’s once was.

Jessica: I love the feel of a weighty, 16-ounce glass mug in my hand. And all of the 16 types of drafts at Muggsy’s are served in a mug like they should be.

Emily: The only problem I have with this place is the name. Muggsy’s Mug House? Really? But Ryan Cooper, one of the co-owners, is cute and kept giving me different alcohol to try. So I had fun.

Jessica: Do you know who wasn’t cute? The 60-year-old man who told me he had replaced his Viagra pills with a well-stuffed wallet in his

front pocket.

Emily: At least he didn’t pull out the wallet. I was too busy fake laughing and taking the safety off of my can of Mace to notice his creepy comments. But Ryan mentioned that he wanted the place to attract neighborhood folks instead of rowdy college students.

Jessica: I’ll miss the dollar bottle specials that come with the college kids but not the crowds where you’re impregnated just by

walking through.

Emily: Personally, I liked the peanut butter, banana and chocolate panini. It sounds weird and it made the roof of my mouth sticky, but dammit if I don’t want another one.

The O’s are back, ready for action and so are we. We’ll be standing, or swaying, in a sea of orange and black at Pickles, getting in the right mood to see the Orioles defeat (hopefully) Tampa Bay. Look for a special “Opening Day” edition of Pan and Praise on April 3.
