BALTIMORE (Map, News) - Profectus BioSciences Inc., a Baltimore-based biotechnology company, has completed an additional $3 million private equity placement.

The private equity placement is the result of the sale of securities to private investors led by Cross Atlantic Capital Partners.

Under the financing terms, investors purchased shares of recently issued convertible Series A Preferred Stock from the company and exchanged previously issued convertible notes.

The company, which specializes in the development of preventative and therapeutic technologies to reduce the morbidity and mortality caused by viral diseases such as HIV, plans to use the proceeds to further its work on cell cycle agent technologies.

By moving forward with its work in this area, the company hopes to enhance the clinical efficacy of existing drugs and formulate new viral entry inhibitors.

Additionally, the company will use the funds to initiate the investigation of other enabling technologies that support the production of effective antiviral vaccines and therapeutics and to negotiate and generate revenue from various licensing agreements.

Since the company began operations in early 2005, it has licensed the intellectual property of its founding scientists at the Institute of Human Virology, part of the University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute and the University of Maryland, Baltimore.

Profectus also has entered into option agreements with two global pharmaceutical companies to further commercialize its intellectual property.

To Michael Barnum, VP of Circulation, I am STILL unsuccessful in getting the DC Examiner stopped. I have called your circulation desk over 9 times to get the paper stopped (I never ordered it and do not want it as it is full or right-wing propaganda) and hear the same story line "We will stop it". Only, it does not stop. The CAC is obviously not doing even a minimally adequate job - if they did they would check to see if these requests for stopping the paper were honored. They are not - seems like some sort of State/Federal investigation may be required since they are committing fraud in getting higher advertising rates when they are not entitled to them. Who does the CAC? Do the advertisers who use the CAC numbers care if their rates are higher than they should be?

Cum on ya'll...Crooks deserve praise too for success. Eastern's has and always will have a shady past and probably future. There's no need to hate on the man for putting Rob's dirt in forefront, this is America. And Crooks get honors every now and then ecspecially when they're hustle hits the jackpot, I should know! (I love smugish sarcasm, as if prestige or honors aren't given to crooks, if not by a crook...As if crooks don't hire important athletes or entertainers for shows or advertisements, oh that doesn't happen:) The important thing is that Easterns does provide support to a lot of folks who are 'able' to pay for a car note but don't have the 'credit' to prove it. And this Dude came up with a great hustle...result...success, even more significant now in a time when the sub prime markets failed in a similar effort. Give this man his props, no matter what dirt he has under his nails. He provides a much needed commodity to hard working people that need a bail out more than GMC!!!

and about the FBI comment. Do you really have a friend who has the low down buddy. Is that why he's honored by the mayor of D.C. He's apart of the Fairfax county Valor society/ Police, and he's well connected with a national football team. Oh that's right.. you have the low down.. Right? instead of using the FBI.. why don't you just come out and say you were fired from Easterns, and have a personal chip on your shoulder. It's a lot easier than sounding CRAZY!

Instead of being jealous of Eastern Motors.. why don't you try and become something in life. It's obvious that you wish you had an ounce of what he has, and the only thing you know how to do is tell ridiculous stories about "drug money" (blah, blah, blah). Get a life.. Dude no really .. get a life. Go work or become something great in life. Oh that's right you probably have issues in that department or otherwise you would be to busy in your life working, and living that you wouldn't have time to hate on his life. It's hard hearing a grown man complain about another grown man being successful. You have more crayons than me.. so uugghh your a drug dealer. Give me a break.

I never asked for the examiner, I don't want it and now it is showing up on my doorstep, this does not make me a "customer" or a "reader" all it makes me is annoyed and feeling harassed. Often there are three or more papers on my lawn and in the gutter outside my door. This is neither responsive nor responsible of the examiner, stop delivering it to people who don't sign up for it. Other papers like the washington post have accurate delivery, aggressive over marketing like this is just one more sign that this is a predatory sales circular masquerading as a "news"paper

I work for Eastern motors myself and he has friends that work for him that are fake back stabbers they shake your hand but talk behind your back at the same time. I dont know Robert in person but Iwould hope that he is not this way but his friends that work for him are above the law meaning they can get a person fired any time they want even if they are wrong in a situation but that drives away hard workers maybe Robert should not have friends in top positions it can be mis leading and really not fair right is right wrong is wrong no matter if its Roberts friends or not.
