More than 80 people gathered Tuesday at the Reese and Sons Mortuary in Annapolis to remember Cecelia Brown Turner, 51, who died Jan. 18 of a gunshot wound along with her friend Charles Cully, 29, in Turner’s Bay Ridge Gardens apartment in Annapolis.
“She was a beautiful girl,” said William Holland, Turner’s brother-in-law, who broke down as he spoke of her kindness.
“You could walk out of the house mad, and she’d be the one to put a smile on your face.”
Cecelia Turner was remembered Tuesday as “fun-loving” and giving.
Friends said she was always dancing or singing and often volunteered and brought food to people in need.
She also served on the Bay Ridge Community Council for five years.
“She didn’t deserve this,” said Turner’s sister Ellinor Kollins, 50, of Annapolis.
Annapolis police have not progressed in the investigation and have no suspects.
“If someone knows what happened, please tell. I don’t care about being a snitch,” pleaded Typhne Brown, of Washington, D.C., who is the mother of Turner’s granddaughter Saraiya Brown.
“We don’t understand what happened and we probably never will, but we need to make this right, because there is a 15-year-old boy who lost his mother for no reason.”
Turner has three sons, Renardo and Bakari Brown, and Tyrone Proctor Jr. Her husband of 25 years, Bobbie Turner, could only say how much he misses her.
Because of the rushed funeral arrangements, the family is asking for donations to the Reese and Sons Mortuary.
Cully’s funeral was last week.
