Cold case rape nets nine-year sentence

A 1992 rape solved 14 years later resulted in a nine-year sentence Wednesday for a Baltimore City man.

Baltimore City Circuit Judge Timothy Doory also ordered James Collick, 35, to register as a sex offender for life after Collick pleaded guilty to first-degree rape.

A 46-year-old woman was raped at gunpoint on Brune Street, police said.

Anne Arundel teen treated for trauma to chest

A 15-year-old male suffering from unknown trauma to the chest was treated Thursday at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore City, Anne Arundel police said.

Police responded about 2 p.m. to Sycamore Drive in Pasadena for reports of possible gunshots.

The victim indicated his acquaintance, a 17-year-old male, whose name has not been released, injured him. Police could not find the suspect.

The victim had non-life-threatening injuries. Police have not confirmed why the suspect allegedly injured the teen or what type of weapon was used. – Carolyn Peirce

Plea deal in works for guard at jail charged with ID theft

The trial of a jail guard and her boyfriend charged with stealing from inmates is postponed until next Friday, while the defendants work out a plea deal.

Lontona Maria Webb, 38, and Michael Moore, 26, were indicted July 26 on 29 charges of credit card theft, identity fraud, conspiracy to commit theft and misconduct in office involving eight victims who were arrested and transported to the Baltimore City Central Booking and Intake Facility.

Webb, a former correctional officer, is charged in 22 separate indictments, and Moore in seven indictments.

From November 2006 to March 2007, various defendants reported their credit cards stolen and used during their incarceration, according to court records. – Luke
