Two teens charged in connection with Columbia mall stabbing

Howard police charged two teens in connection with Tuesday’s stabbing at a Mall in Columbia parking lot.

Bernardo Leconte, 18, of Columbia, and Cordero Taylor, 16, of Forrestville — both being charged as adults — each faces attempted murder, assault and other charges, police said.

Police had detained Leconte and Taylor, who were seen running from the mall, police said.

When police confronted Leconte, he dropped a bloody knife that he admitted using to stab a 17-year-old male, according to charging documents.

Police say they believe the incident was drug-related.

Police officer gets 15 years on child porn conviction

U.S. District Judge Alexander Williams Jr. sentenced U.S. Capitol Police Officer Michael Malloy, 36, on Wednesday to 15 years in prison for enticing a minor female to engage in sexually explicit conduct to produce child pornography.

On at least two occasions between September and December of 2005, Malloy enticed a girl to engage in sexual intercourse at his residence — making a video at least once, prosecutors said. – Staff Report

Cop’s trial on rape charge to begin today in Baltimore

The rape trial of Baltimore Police Officer William Darrell Welch, 41, of Timonium, is scheduled to start today in Baltimore City Circuit Court.

Welch was indicted on Aug. 23, 2006, on one count of rape and three counts of misconduct in office. The indictment alleges that he had sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old girl in custody.

Welch could receive a maximum of 20 years in prison if convicted of rape.

He is released on $50,000 bail. – Staff Report
