The suspect being held at a Louisiana jail in connection with a brutal sexual assault in Glen Burnie attempted to kill himself, said the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Ronald Lee Moore, 40, used a nylon string from a mesh laundry bag Tuesday to hang himself from an air-conditioning vent in his St. Charles Parish, La., jail cell.
Deputies found Moore about 4 p.m. and administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation, said Capt. Patrick Yoes, spokesman for the sheriff’s office.
Moore was taken to Ochsner Medical Center in Jefferson, La., where he remains in critical condition. He is breathing with the help of a ventilator, Yoes said.
“I wouldn’t want to speculate on his prognosis, but it’s more serious. The question now is whether he’s even going to survive,” he said.
Moore was arrested trying to burglarize a house in Destrehan, La., on Christmas Eve. He gave authorities a fake name, but his identity was discovered a few days later when his fingerprints were checked against a nationwide fingerprint identification system, officials said.
He is wanted in Anne Arundel for allegedly breaking into a woman’s apartment in 1999, sexually assaulting her and shocking her with a cattle prod.
Moore was serving time in prison for burglary when police used DNA in July to link him to the 1999 attack, but he was mistakenly released in November because of an oversight at the Division of Correction Commitment Office.
If Moore survives, the incident is expected to delay his extradition to Maryland, said Sgt. Sara Schriver, Anne Arundel police spokeswoman.

AA, DOC, and Baltimore will be having to respond to who's fault it is. I don't care if these three pit-bulls kill each other. AA, lack of following thru and trying, yes I said trying to rail road an inmate. Fortunately this inmate had someone in his corner that cared and made sure to watch all moves before anyone could sweep him under the rug. Corruption at it's finest. DOC, all I can say is this was another fine example of the management culture that seems to not care until someone's @ss is on the line. Baltimore needs to find a way to make the counties and DOC at all facilities responsible and accountable for not just this single incident; for all of the neglected cases and individuals.

Well now that he has died, the DOC and AA County can fight about who has his blood on their hands instead of who erroneously released him.

MYComedy, How is this AA County's fault? The fault lies entirely with DOC - they let him go.

He does not have a seven month old. The news reported a statement he made in the 90's about his newborn child, and how he had turned his life around. It is amazing how things get twisted because people skim the stories and think they know it all. Look, the guy did some horrible things, however, he is still a father, a son, and a man who is living with such horrible guilt that he tried to kill himself and, probably succeeded. He needed help, mentally, and the system failed him

What happened to knowing the entire story or innocent until proven guilty? It is truly unfortunate, we as a society are no better than Bin-Laden (terrorists). I'm sure that all of the "better than thou" people out there could never find them selves in the same position as this guy. Word to the wise: DNA evidence is fascinating and potentially lethal. Be careful where you leave your DNA. Even the most pleasurable slip can be an innocent admission of guilt... You can leave a drop of DNA on a person that gets assaulted hours later (i.e. prostitutes). AND you WIN a first class ticket to guilty sex offender and let?s not forget a life sentence! Beware, keep your DNA in your pants and others DNA out of your mouth. Secondly, WAY TO GO DOC and AA COUNTY!

I don't want to make this a racial thing-but isn't there quite a few white males involved in this type of crime? Just goes to show you that no one race of people have a monopoly on CRIMINAL ACTIVITY.

To Johnn at 3:51AM, my information is that he is white and has spent most of his life, including his juvenile years in and out of jail. I notice that the above article states he has been incarcerated since 1999 but apparently he has a seven month old child. So go figure that.
