SAN FRANCISCO (Map, News) - Investigators continue to probe the cause of a single-alarm fire in San Francisco's Bayview district Saturday afternoon that killed a 56-year-old woman, a San Francisco Fire Department spokeswoman said today.

According to Lt. Mindy Talmadge, Ruby Smith died of burn injuries in the blaze, reported at a three-story, single-family home in the 1300 block of Revere Avenue at about 2 p.m.

The San Francisco medical examiner's office has not issued a final report on the cause of Smith's death, which could take weeks.

Damage to the home was minor, Talmadge said.

According to Talmadge, there are no indications the fire was suspicious or that there was any criminal activity, and officials hope to determine a cause by the end of this week.

Nice plaza, but I wonder if it will be closed to the public when it rains. That polished stone syre looks like it might be a wee bit slippery when wet.
