The U.N. aid chief called on world governments Thursday to donate $300 million more to help Myanmar to recover from the effects of a cyclone that devastated parts of the Asian nation in May. As the crowd gathered in the hall of a Buddhist monastery to receive their free lunch, Hnin Mya sat listlessly, oblivious to the smell of warm curry, the sounds of clinking utensils and the chatter of her compatriots. More than 80 women and children who were victims of Myanmar's recent cyclone have been rescued from human traffickers scheming to smuggle them to neighboring countries, a media report said Thursday. The cyclone that devastated Myanmar's heartland has also roiled a political landscape dominated by the military for more than four decades.
