COLORADOBOULDER
A funeral service is planned Saturday for the two brothers who were killed when two planes collided midair near Boulder Municipal Airport.Fifty-eight-year-old Bob Matthews and his 56-year-old brother Mark Matthews were in a Cirrus SR-20 that crashed with a Piper Pawnee being flown by 25-year-old Alexander Howard Gilmer. Gilmer also died in the crash. A glider being towed by the Piper Pawnee disconnected just before impact and the three people in it survived.
CENTENNIAL
Attorneys are set to deliver opening arguments in the trial of a man accused of running a red light and causing a crash that killed two women and a child waiting for ice cream at a store.Francis M. Hernandez faces three counts of vehicular homicide and other charges when his trial begins Wednesday morning in Arapahoe County. Authorities say he struck a truck as it was making a turn into a strip mall in the Denver suburb of Aurora on September 2008. Police say the impact sent the truck into an ice cream shop, killing 3-year-old Marten Kudlis and the two women in the truck, Patricia Guntharp and passenger Debra Serecky.

Fort Carson is honoring four of its soldiers and an Air Force airman who died last month while serving in Afghanistan.The memorial service Wednesday morning at the Army post is for four soldiers from the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division and an Air Force airman.

Carmelo Anthony scored 19 points in his return from an ankle injury and the Denver Nuggets had their biggest win of the season, routing the Dallas Mavericks 127-91 on Tuesday night.Anthony, the NBA's second-leading scorer, returned after missing eight consecutive games with a left ankle sprain. However, the Nuggets were without Kenyon Martin, who missed the game because of tendinitis in his left knee.

Learning to win on the road is a tough task for any team, but Colorado State did just that against Air Force Tuesday night.Andy Ogide scored 12 points and Colorado State made three free throws in the closing minutes as the Rams topped Air Force 51-47.

COLORADO SPRINGS
Homeless people who camp at parks and along city creeks in Colorado Springs will be cited under an ordinance passed Tuesday by the City Council.The only council member to vote against the proposal was Tom Gallagher, who says he was nearly homeless years ago. More than two dozen people testified on the ordinance, which makes it illegal to be in a tent or other temporary shelter on public property.

NEDERLAND
A Nederland preschool that the state closed after a teacher was accused of sexual assault will be allowed to reopen but will be monitored for six months.The state suspended Over the Rainbow's child care license Jan. 29 after 38-year-old Kristen Carol Barnett was charged with sexual assault and after authorities said they found out that other teachers there had criminal records. The Colorado Department of Human Services ordered the school to lay off one of its teachers as one of the conditions for reopening.
