The ATL is really stepping up awareness with the AZS next Saturday. Assembled by Stan Woodard, the Atlanta Zombie Symposium will promote undead understanding through discussion, film, and… dance? While it may not sound like the typical zombash, it does promise to be an interesting take on the spectacle of the living dead. It’ll be a departure from arguing the finer points of weapon maintenance and apocalyptic survival tactics to be sure (not that those are bad things by any stretch). Use the symposium to further your expertise and pass the newly found wisdom onto other would-be survivors; it’s the responsibility of the able after all. Enter as a susceptible, but emerge a bona fide Zombiegeddon sage.
I now know there needs to be an annual zombie symposium in every city. Let's make that happen, folks.
Here’s the agenda for Saturday, September 12th
1 – 3:45 PM, Panel Discussion
The Zombie Perceived: Religion, Media, and Society, Clary Theater, Bill Moore Student Success Center, Georgia Institute of Technology. Free (Seating is limited, arrive early!)
5 – 9 PM Films
Night of the Living Dead, (1968) directed by George Romero + Return of the Living Dead (1985), directed by Dan O'Bannon, Plaza Theater, 1049 Ponce De Leon Ave. $9 for one, $12 for both
10 PM – 2 AM, Dance of the Undead
Graveyard Tavern, 1245 Glenwood Ave., East Atlanta Village $2
Have fun and stay vigilant.
