ZombieFit leads the way in zombie fitness programs
Denver fitness enthusiasts could learn a thing or two from Illinois personal fitness program ZombieFit, a parkour-based workout that prepares trainees to escape from a zombie attacker any way they can.
The sport of parkour is defined as "moving effortlessly through space." Watching a true parkour master is like watching a graceful ballerina... one that whips through gnarly urban environments with the speed and agilty Tarzan only wishes he had.
It's only natural that a sport like parkour, specifically invented for getting from place to place by any means possible, would be adapted for use in a zombie outbreak. ZombieFit of St. Charles, Illinois has provided a class in which parkour enthusiasts and highly-motivated survivors alike can practice the art of running away from zombies.
According to ZombieFit instructor Jesse Randall, "The keys to surviving Z-day are simple: Be able to lift and throw heavy things, run fast and for long distances, and be able to navigate obstacles and urban environments in an efficient manner." Thus, parkour and zombies are a match made in the apocalypse.
"Fight or flight" is an instinct that kicks in when we are faced with an attacker, even if that attacker is a zombie. Denver martial arts studio Agoge Integrated Martial Arts teaches participants how to handle the "fight" side of that instinct with their practical Zombie Defense Tactics class.
However, there is currently no program in the greater Denver area which teaches how to deal with the "flight" side of our instinctual reaction to zombies. Our city is greatly in need of a program like ZombieFit, so that those of us with the instinct to bravely run away can do it with tactical efficiency.

I for one feel better that we are training for the oncoming zombie apocalypse.
Love the zombie Spidey in your pic!
So glad you noticed, Jenn! I took that picture at last year's Denver Zombie Crawl, where there were a surprising amount of zombie super heroes.
Being the coward that I am, I'm all for the "flight" response. :)
We already have a zombie walk in my city - perhaps they could tie it in with a zombie fit programme too. SOunds much better than plain, old bootcamp!
Very interesting, there are so many new fitness programs out there today!
This is fantastic. We could use a ZombieFit program here in Boston as well.
Also glad you included the WGN video with this. The reporter cracks me up! "Look at that! They're jumping over balance beams." lol
I also like using the local batting cages for a zombie related workout.
