Local Denver artist Corinne Buchholz has found a way to make zombies cute and cuddly with her line of "Mischiefmaker" crocheted zombie dolls.
A self-proclaimed "craft-aholic", the Mischiefmaker crochets, paints, or sews a variety of original crafts, but by far her most original creations are the zombies. Each one comes with his own unique back-story and blood-splatter pattern. They stand at an adorably petite 9 inches tall, with movable arms and legs. All the Mischiefmaker's zombies are made from her own original patterns with acrylic yarn.
Take Benny the zombie (pictured left), who lost part of his arm in a tragic encounter with a lumberjack, but prefers his undead existence to his former life as a paper salesman. Then there's Wes the zombie, who prefers his brains with a side of macaroni and cheese, and a whole horde of other zombies waiting to spring from the Mischiefmaker's nimble fingers.
The full line of Mischiefmaker crafts can be purchased online. Besides zombies, Buchholtz makes clothes, jewelry, and crocheted animals like hedgehogs. Scroll down for more pictures of the Mischiefmaker's adorable-yet-deadly creations, or check up on her newest creations at the Mischiefmaker's blog.
Stay informed, stay alive: If you're looking to build your zombie art collection (and really, who isn't?), it will never be complete without a customized zombie preparedness kit from local company In Case of Attack or a personal zombie portrait by artist Jack Larson.

Thanks so much, Jess!!
So happy to see my talented friend show-cased like this. We have the cutest Zombie ever, he proudly sits upon our mantle and watches over our family. Cori is so talented and we are so proud of her and her accomplishments....THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING!!!!
These zombie dolls are really super-cute. They'd make great gifts for Day of the Dead...or should it be Day of the Undead?
I need one of these for my desk at work! Off to order one. I think this plays well for the Work Zombies, don't you? Jess, love your column and love Zombie dolls by the Mischiefmaker Corrine Buchholz!
I like it. The dolls are very creative and original!
Cori's work is amazing - and spans a vast array of creations. I'll never buy another scarf or hat elsewhere. Check her out: on Etsy.com: shop/mischiefmaker
No worries, Corinne! Your work is too good not to write about. And if you make any more zombies, be sure to send me pictures. :)
This is too cute!
These would make a great Halloween decoration or prize for kids at a Halloween party.
Very cute (for zombies, that is).
I have one sitting in our living room! He's my favorite :) Cori is amazing!
I will never look at mac & cheese the same again.
I still say my bosses are the zombies because they want to eat my brains, and I am the brave zombie fighter fending them off and protecting unsuspecting children.
Those dolls are awesome! Nice article.
Who knew zombies could be so adorable?
These are good...in a creepy kind of way.
Wow, pack those puppys full of C4 or Semtex, douse in human blood, and toss into a horde for some real fun! Great distractions!
Kudos to the artist and to you for the report!
I want one!
Jess, do you ewver get complaints from the ZADL??? (that's the Zombie Anti-Defamation League)
