What is your major malfunction, Bobby Gibbs?

Not to be vulgar, but someone needs to play back Full Metal Jacket for White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs and ask him: "What is your major malfunction, numbnuts?"

Gibbs, never ceasing to amaze by failing to act professional, has certainly redefined the position as one that requires total ignorance and no shame.

Certainly, all press secretaries of the White House are expected to handle the heavy spinning in order to promote their president's agenda.  There are catchphrases and buzz words used when necessary, and that is perfectly acceptable, if not expected.

Gibbs, however, has been doing much more than spinning.

His key tactic has been to play dumb to questions that he cannot possibly handle.  Any good press secretary would be aware of the several stories that have been on the front page of Drudge Report regarding what his president has been up to.

The rather bizarre exchange that took place on Thursday shows that either Gibbs does not do his homework or is perfectly happy playing the village idiot. Rather than answer a question about the request from the White House to forward the e-mail addresses of those sending "fishy" e-mails about healthcare to flag@whitehouse.gov, Gibbs simply pretends to not understand what the reporter is referring to.

But Gibbs shows his hand in the final moments of the response, as he accuses the reporter of trying to hatch a "nefarious plot."  Wouldn't the normal response be to ask the reporter to clarify if Gibbs truly did not understand what was being said?

This is far from the first incident involving Gibbs acting like a sniveling child when dealing with members of the media.  One of his most memorable exchanges came before Obama's faux-public town hall meeting, which even got Helen Thomas in a tizzy:

So what actually is Robert Gibbs' issue? Is it something a mental health professional should look into?

The Obama Administration has to realize that Gibbs' buffoonery at the podium every day is doing little to bolster support for Obama's Leftist agenda.  The constant giggling and laughing at questions is perhaps the most infantile way to deal with a difficult issue.  Gibbs uses his laughter to drown out reporters who dare to ask him substantial and tough questions.  It comes across like a bad high school debate team tactic.

As the knee-slappers continue in the press room, the reporters there are growing tired of being treated like small children. Gibbs may very well be the reason why the media could eventually turn on Obama, and that is nothing to sneeze at.  As supportive as they have been, one of them may just turn to Gibbs one of these days and declare...

I like Gibbs and the way he handles the stupid press corp. The questions they ask are just plain dumb and stupid. I mean. come-on, "whats the rush on health care", how stupid, every minute of every day some one dies for lack of care, I hope its that reporter not my mother!

Gibbs demonstrates all the acumen and intelligence of his boss. Mouthpieces for any President lie, not spin, lie. Gibbs is such an ongoing trainwreck that I delight in watching him stammer, pause, and mutter along each weekday. I am always fascinated that purportedly well-educated people can speak in such moronic, and repetitive language. This was am amsuing and insightful article.

I think Mr Gibbs is a small reflection on how diorganized the whole administration is - Obama is no manager

It's about time the press got put under control and Gibbs does a great job of keeping the slimy press off balance. The media as a whole generally asks questions, not to gain information, but to gain an angle with which they can stir controversy of some kind. Gibbs just laughs at them which I think is hilarious.

Maybe if these dumb reporters asked intelligent questions they would get intelligent answers. Instead they ask dumb questions, maybe the rightwing media isn't able to comprehend intelligence? Here's an idea, stop your whiny fear-mongering and crack open a book instead of a beer. You can start with something easy to read with pictures.

Wow, I can't believe I wasted time thinking about this. At least I wasn't dumb enough to read it. Suckers!!!!!!!!!!

Gibbs is pathetic. I would have like to see those two reporters put a little more pressure on him. You could tell he was so uncomfortable. "Umm...did you send in your email??" No they didnt idiot, thats not how it works.

Unfortunately, there is nothing hilarious about this. But finally the press is waking up to the fact that they have been being manipulated by this administration just as much as the public has....transparancy my ass.....

Gibbs cannot answer a question in a coherent manner because he actually does not know what is going on; I refuse to believe he is faking

End the Mass Media Brainwashing of Americans

"The Recent News play has been enormously positive for Obama. We have received eyewitness reports from entertainers that say that their job will end if they speak badly about Obama. There is a concerted effort in the media to constantly play up what a good job Obama is doing. In the past 3 months, over 14,000 news journalists have been laid off! The nexus of news people is very small and controllable now." - David Jon Sponheim
