Jerry Lewis Telethon 2010 - David Archuleta of 'American Idol' to sing 'Things Are Gonna Get Better' -- American Idol runner-up David Archuleta is scheduled to perform in Las Vegas at the 2010 Jerry Lewis Telethon for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The singer made the announcement via his Twitter account on Saturday.
Mr. Archuleta, 19, lost the Idol crown to winner, David Cook, in Season 7 of the popular FOX singing competition in May, 2008.
The singer will perform a new song, "Things Are Gonna Get Better" from his upcoming CD, The Other Side of Down. The new CD is available now for pre-order and will be released on October 5, 2010.
According to the singer's Twitter posts, viewers can expect to see him during the 10 p.m. PST hour Sunday night. That would be about 1:00 a.m. Monday morning for audiences on the East coast.
The Jerry Lewis Telethon raised over $65 million in 2008 for MDA, a record for the event. Last year, it raised over $60 million, even with the bad economy.
According to the MDA website, the 2010 event will be the 45th Labor Day telethon for the MDA. It begins at 9 p.m. ET Sunday, September 5, and will end 21-1/2 hours later. It will be broadcast live from the South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa in Las Vegas.
David Archuleta's budding singing career post-Idol has included several charity events, including his participation on the Spanish edition of "We Are the World" ("Somos el Mundo") for Haitian earthquake relief.

Can't wait to hear him!!!!
Love him!
WOW!!!! DAVID....you have come of age! Performance outstanding! What stage presence you have! From what I have heard so far the songs on your album are amazing. But more than that it soooo shows that you have written these songs and that they come from your heart. I loved your first album and you sang each song beautifully but I see the sparkle in your eyes and the confidence and feeling behind each verse that wasn't there before. You've grown up sweetie. Kinda feels like I've sent you off to college and you have matured and become an incredible young man. It is your journey..but for those of us that watched you grow...we feel so proud.

Love this beautiful song by David!!
Orla Fallon of Celtic Woman fame calls David Archuleta the best young singer in America. She's got that right! He sings beautifully in multiple genres, and brings intensity and heartfelt emotion to every song. Those qualities are clearly on display in the MDA telethon performance.
Well Orla Fallon is absolutely correct in her critique of David. This song was great..did I detect a little 'country flavor' in it? Sounds like it.. and I loved that.
