'Diary of Justin Bieber' airs on MTV Sunday

'Diary of Justin Bieber' airs on MTV Sunday - MTV will broadcast Diary of Justin Bieber on Sunday. The special is a behind-the-scenes look at the teen singer's daily life over four days in February, 2010, when he made trips to Paris and New York. Director and supervising producer,  Andrew Hwang, says on MTV.com that the special captures a moment in the young singer's career "right before it got ridiculous for him."

Justin Bieber is a rising 16-year-old Canadian pop/R&B singer who got on the entertainment industry's radar after he and his mother started posting videos of him singing and playing instruments on YouTube. He performed songs by Usher, Justin Timberlake, Stevie Wonder, Chris Brown, and others.

At the age of 12, he came in second in a singing competition in Stratford, Ontario. He taught himself how to play guitar, piano, drums, and trumpet. In talking about his talent later, recording artist Usher called him a "prodigy."

Scooter Braun, a former executive with So So Def, saw the boy on YouTube and invited Mr. Bieber to Atlanta, Georgia to meet Usher. Usher was so impressed with him that he decided to mentor the young singer, including helping him release a CD, and otherwise promoting his career.

Bieber's first CD, My World, was released in November, 2009, and featured contributions by Usher, who also appears in a music video. The singer has released several singles that have shot onto the Billboard charts including: "One Time," "One Less Lonely Girl," "Love Me," and "Favorite Girl."  His association with Usher helped him secure appearances on several TV shows, including Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest. He has toured with Taylor Swift in the UK. In early February, when the philanthropic anthem written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Ritchie, "We Are the World," was remade for Haiti earthquake relief, Justin Bieber was chosen to sing the opening line originally sung by Lionel Ritchie.

Mr. Bieber's second CD, My World 2.0, was released on March 23, 2010. Instead of a second CD with a new focus, it is described as Part 2 of his debut. He sang a song from the new CD, "Baby," on the Late Night With David Letterman on the day of the album's release.

The special Sunday night will show the teen singer greeting and singing with fans, as well as doing ordinary things like eating breakfast, playing sports, and blow-drying his hair.  

The Diary of Justin Bieber airs at 7:30 p.m. ET.
