Cyber Monday deals 2009 - info and links - According to the Associated Press, retailers are hoping that the online shopping season will extend beyond what has now become known as "Cyber Monday,' the Monday after Thanksgiving weekend when online sales spike for the holiday shopping season. What retailers are offering special Cyber Monday sales? Where can shoppers find more information?

Retailers may offer a variety of promotions for online customers, according to the National Retail Federation. These include one-day sales; cut prices on certain items; and free shipping. One-day sales can be particularly helpful for the frugal shopper, but one needs to be vigilant for them, checking a favorite retailer's website each day to catch the quick promotion. Free shipping is particularly attractive to online shoppers because they often have to balance the cost of shipping and the wait for the product to arrive against the inconvenience of going out, parking, and waiting in line in a local store or mall to purchase the same item that they then bring home with them that day.
Young adults and older adults alike often prefer to shop online. Some people shop from their desks at their workplace or school during lunchbreaks or other open time; others shop while working or playing on their computers at home. Teens may not have credit or debit cards of their own for online shopping, but there are re-loadable debit cards available for teens under parental supervision, such as VisaBUXX, that allow young people to make online purchases within a budget. Gift cards from various retailers, as well, normally have information in the small print on the back explaining how they may be used online.
One of the benefits of shopping online is the convenience; however, one needs to shop early for online purchases, since there must be enough time for the items to be processed, shipped, and received.
