2009 American Music Awards - nominees and performers list - Below are the 2009 nominees and performers for the American Music Awards, according to ABC. The awards show will air on the ABC television network at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, November 22.
The event will open with an 8-minute performance by Janet Jackson and will include other performances by Rihanna, Alicia Keys, and others as well as what is billed as a "comeback performance" by singer, Whitney Houston.
Singer, dancer, and songwriter, Michael Jackson, who died unexpectedly in June at the age of 50, is ironically a 5-time nominee.

WOOW, LOOKS LIKE ITS GONNA BE A GOOD AWARDS SHOW THIS YEAR AND MICHAEL JACKSON WILL WINNNN! LOVE HIM AND .....whats this i hear they gonna change the name to american idol awards....KEEP IT LIKE IT IS NOW......im so use to american music awards...gonna take some time getting use to the new name.
Why is Adam Lambert performing when Kris Allen is the American Idol? Shouldn't Kris be the first to perform on an awards show. I like Adam, but Kris should be performing.
