Rock Band finally gets Tom Petty tracks; also Jet, Fleetwood Mac, and Billy Idol

Rock Band enthusiasts have good news this week as Tom Petty finally makes his debut on the popular rhythm game by Harmonix and MTV Games.

Having long since been available on Guitar Hero, these new upcoming track releases represent the first time that Tom Petty songs will be available on Rock Band. While certainly not an extensive collection of songs from throughout Tom Petty’s distinguished career, the two new tracks are definitely some of his most famous tunes.

Both Petty songs are from during his break from The Heartbreakers, and are traditionally found on his first “solo” album, Full Moon Fever.

Tom Petty songs soon to be available are:

“I Won’t Back Down”
“Runnin’ Down a Dream”

Additional songs to be available soon include tracks from Fleetwood Mac and Billy Idol. Also coming on the same day is a brand new song from Jet, representing a new single from their upcoming album, Shaka Rock, hitting store shelves on August 25th. This will make for a concurrent Rock Band and worldwide album release of the song at the same time, something which is starting to happen with more frequency lately.

The additional artists and tracks are:

Billy Idol – “Mony Mony”
Billy Idol – “Rebel Yell”
Fleetwood Mac – “Don’t Stop”
Fleetwood Mac – “World Turning”
Jet – “She’s a Genius”

According to Harmonix the new tracks will be available for download through Xbox Marketplace on August 25th, 2009. All of these songs will be available at standard Rock Band prices of $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points) per track.
