There was no question that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 would be this year's biggest selling video game. However, Modern Warfare 2 didn't just break records in the video gaming world, but set an all-time, single-day record for all entertainment, including movies and music, by selling approximately 4.7 million copies and generating over $310 million domestically on its first day, and now grossing over $550 million over the first five days, beating previous record holder Grand Theft Auto IV which grossed over $500 million over the same time span.
The biggest movie opening was last year's "The Dark Knight," grossing $155 million. The highest movie to gross over five days was "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," grossing $394 million.
Activision hasn't stopped to take a breath and perspective on the series yet, as a third Call of Duty development team, besides Infinity Ward (Modern Warfare 1 &2) and Treyarch (World at War), is rumored to be in the works to help ease the burden of yearly sequels as well as a Modern Warfare 2 movie.

Always great to see a game sell that well...afterall, the more money they have in their budget the better the next game will be.
